Desert Baroque’s second annual Winter Festival
in Palm Springs, Joshua Tree and Palm Desert, CA.
Engaging! Experimental! Exciting!

 

You are invited to spend four days of total emersion in “things-harpsichord.”
Four full days of classes and concerts focusing on the free forms, fantasies, fugues of the 17th
and 18th Centuries and a special class in harpsichord music from our time.
Six repertoire master classes, four basso continuo labs, harpsichord tuning and
maintenance, and “meet the clavichord,” with an international harpsichord faculty:


Ketil Haugsand, special guest artist
Elaine Funaro, specialist in contemporary music
Margaret Irwin-Brandon, early keyboard specialist
Sonia Lee, scholar, performer, teacher
Charles Metz, solo and ensemble performer, instrument collector
Webb Wiggins, educator, performer, basso continuo expert


Concerts feature works for solo and multiple harpsichords, “Fight, Flight and Fantasy,” with
string ensemble - Baroque and Contemporary music, “Goldberg Variations” (Haugsand) and a
participants concert.


Classes, accommodations, and specially designed meals are taken together at the Joshua Tree
Retreat Center (JTRC), structures built by Frank Lloyd Wright and his son Lloyd, on
land long believed to hold mystical properties. Concerts on site and in the community. The


Cost for the entire weekend, including classes, concerts, lodging and meals: $630.00 (see
